Type 1 Incident Management Team

A highly trained and experienced group of emergency management professionals responsible for managing large-scale, complex incidents, including major wildfires. Type 1 teams are the highest level of incident management teams, possessing the most advanced skills, expertise, and resources to effectively respond to and manage large, high-risk incidents. These teams are composed of individuals from various agencies, such as the United States Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and state and local fire departments, working together under the Incident Command System (ICS) to coordinate and oversee all aspects of the incident response. In legal disputes related to wildfires, such as the Calf Canyon/Hermit’s Peak Fire, issues may arise concerning the deployment, coordination, and effectiveness of Type 1 Incident Management Teams, as well as the responsibility of various parties in managing and responding to the wildfire event.
