Mark Callender

Mark Callender acquired his law degree from South Texas College of Law and Texas A&M University, where he spent time as editor-in-chief of the South Texas Law Review and championed in the national moot court competition. In 2009, he helped establish Serpe, Jones, Andrews, Callender & Bell, PLLC, where he resumed his trial practice. He started his legal career in 2002 with Vinson & Elkins, LLP. Mark and Josh Bowlin co-founded Callender Bowlin in 2022, including a trial firm in Colorado.

Mark is a renowned trial lawyer with more than 20 years of expertise who focuses on intricate commercial disputes and personal injury law. Subsequently, Mark litigated disputes in state and federal courts in Texas and New Mexico as well as appeals before the Texas state court of appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, granting him recognition as a “Super Lawyers, Texas Rising Star” and a “Professional on the Fast Track.”

Mark has a strong list of cases on his resume that he has prevailed. He has defended clients in personal injury lawsuits resulting from commercial construction projects and premises liability charges, acted as lead counsel for significant trucking litigation dockets, represented healthcare professionals in a variety of medical malpractice issues, and more. In addition, he has defended international tire and pharmaceutical companies in product liability lawsuits and represented companies in allegations of breach of contract, breach of warranty, deceptive trade practices, fraud, and other business disputes.

Josh Bowlin

Trial attorney Josh Bowlin has been involved in both business and personal injury lawsuits since 2002. He obtained his degree in international economics, a minor in music and vocal performance, and a degree in Mandarin studies from Southwestern University. Before founding Callender Bowlin, PLLC in 2022, Bowlin initially practiced law at Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry, PLLC. He similarly focuses on first-party insurance claims, commercial litigation, and healthcare advocacy. Further, Bowlin has been awarded as a Texas Super Lawyer since 2020, a Texas Rising Star from 2012 to 2017, and H Texas Magazine’s Top Lawyer in Houston from 2013 to 2017.

A few of his notable cases involved 500 plaintiffs against a big oil & gas and plastics company for property damages, as well as defending freestanding emergency room institutions and physician associations in a class action against Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and United Health Care.

Lawrence VandenBout

Lawrence VandenBout is a highly skilled trial lawyer with a focus on first-party insurance coverage and bad faith claims. Mr. VandenBout launched his legal career in Albuquerque at a renowned insurance defense litigation company. He then relocated to Denver, Colorado, where he now practices law across the country. He likes to travel, play golf, as well as spend time alongside his family when he is not working.

Greg Smith

Greg Smith is a skillful attorney who has dealt with a variety of cases, including toxic tort, medical malpractice, and construction error lawsuits. He has been dubbed a Texas Rising Star in Civil Litigation Defense and is legally permitted to practice in Texas and New York.

Smith graduated with distinctions from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s in arts and from The University of Houston Law Center with his law degree. He then served as a judicial intern for the Thirteenth District Court of Appeals, where he got involved in the appellate review of general civil cases and cases involving healthcare liability in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Among Smith’s noteworthy cases are his victories in arbitration on behalf of a Hawaiian real estate management firm, the reversal of the summary judgment on appeal in a case involving a chimpanzee rescue group, and summary judgment for a non-profit organization. In addition, he has prevailed in bench trials on behalf of a large construction firm and a group of property owners.

Malorie Leman

At the Callender Bowlin Law Firm, Senior Litigation Counsel Malorie Leman is an accomplished litigator. After her joint studies at the University of Houston Law Center and the University of Texas School of Public Health, Leman obtained her law degree in 2002. Malorie has a broad range of experience defending people, families, and businesses in situations including personal and workplace injuries, defects in construction, product liability, pharmaceutical and medical device complaints, and first-party insurance. She specializes in handling mass tort cases. Malorie also prioritizes close communication with her clients and is committed to helping each case come to the best settlement she can. Her family resides alongside her in Houston.

Brittany Schuchmann

Brittany Schuchmann works as a trial attorney at Callender Bowlin Law Firm. Before enrolling at South Texas College of Law Houston, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas State University. She engaged in both civil and criminal trial litigation there and handled complex family law cases at the Randall O. Sorrels Legal Clinic.

Brittany had significant legal expertise at a small personal injury and medical malpractice litigation company prior to joining Callender Bowlin. She is committed to offering her clients cutting-edge legal counsel and services and she values open communication between the client and the lawyer they hire. Her accolade in both her personal and professional life depend heavily on her work ethic and moral character.

Trent Cooper

At Callender Bowlin, Trent Cooper is a skilled attorney with a distinguished record. He received a B.A. Before transferring to Houston to enroll in South Texas College of Law and receive his J.D. in 2021 there, he graduated with a degree in political science from Texas A&M University in 2018.

Trent worked as an intern for a federal court and various civil litigation companies when he was a student at South Texas. He excelled in his role as Chairman of the Board of Advocates for the renowned South Texas Advocacy Program as well. Several honors and awards, which comprise being a national finalist and regional champion at the National Moot Court Competition and winning the Best Overall Advocate prize at the American Bar Association regional moot court competition, have been awarded to Trent in recognition of his hard work and prowess as an advocate.

Trent received the Dean’s Student Advocacy Service Award and was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers as a result of his outstanding work at South Texas. He now serves as a coach for moot court and simulated trials at South Texas College of Law, passing along his skills to the upcoming generation of legal professionals.

Keenan Roberson

Keenan is a top-notch attorney licensed by the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Texas and authorized to practice in Texas. Keenan Roberson obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English – Creative Writing degree at Creighton University in 2014, followed by her J.D. from Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law in Malibu, California in 2017.

Upon finishing her J.D., Keenan worked as a committee clerk for the Business and Labor Committee of the Nebraska State Legislature for a few years before heading to Houston, Texas, in 2020. throughout her time in law school, Keenan was a contributing member of the Pepperdine Interschool Moot Court Competition Team, heeded a role in the Pepperdine Legal Aid Clinic on Skid Row, and studied overseas in London, UK.

Keenan received significant legal expertise in Houston while working for a local multi-practice law firm in the civil defense litigation sector, notably in the fields of admiralty and marine, insurance, commercial litigation, and the Defense Base Act. (DBA). She is renowned for being an ardent and practical advocate who considers that trust and effective communication are the cornerstones of a productive attorney-client relationship.

Claudia Morales

Claudia Morales has over 20 years of experience as a litigation paralegal for both plaintiff and defense law firms. She uses her extensive expertise in general civil litigation, insurance defense, the Federal Employee Liability Act, and personal injury cases while bringing compassion and persistence to all of her work. The University of Houston’s Central Campus granted Claudia a bachelor’s degree in Spanish in 2002 after her completion, and in 2004 she received a Texas Specialty Certification in Civil Litigation. She participates actively in both the Houston Metropolitan Paralegal Association and the Houston Paralegal Association. Claudia loves going to rock and metal concerts, watching sci-fi films and television, and bonding with her family.

Connie Rodriguez

At Callender Bowlin, Connie Rodriguez works as a litigation paralegal. Before relocating to Denver in 2017, she worked as a legal secretary in a Miami personal injury company. Connie has expertise in real estate transactions, general civil litigation, bad faith insurance claims, and personal injury. She also earned her paralegal certification from Metro State University. Her hobbies include watching movies, reading, photographing wildlife, and going on hikes with her fiance and their two dogs.
